Frank Nitti 2024 Historic Autographs Mob 2 Death Card

Frank Nitti was a prominent member of the Chicago Outfit and a close associate of Al Capone. On March 19, 1943, Nitti had breakfast with his wife before she went to church. His last words to her were, "I'm going to take a walk." He then began drinking and walked to a local railroad yard, where he shot himself in the head with a .32 caliber pistol. The first shot missed, but the second went through the top of his head. The coroner ruled that Nitti "committed suicide while temporarily insane and in a despondent frame of mind." Nitti was facing indictment for extortion and a potential long prison sentence. He was claustrophobic and terrified of prison, and he might have been suffering from cancer. Frank Nitti is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery just west of Chicago, near his cousin, Al Capone. There has been controversy over Nitti's interment in a Catholic cemetery due to his suicide. Frank Nitti was 57 years old at the time of his death.
